Meet the Kai-Kai Team

Meet the amazing team that makes Kai-Kai run.


MARIA

Maria has worked at the farm since 2009. She is married to Ramiro, a fellow Kai-Kai team member, and lives in Indiantown. Together, they have four children. For our market, farm-to-table dinners, and restaurant orders, Maria plants, harvests, and prepares vegetables. She takes pleasure in working with her close friends and listening to traditional Guatemalan music. She enjoys traveling, and Tennessee is one of her favorite places.


PEDRO

Pedro has been a member of the Kai-Kai family since 2009. Pedro is a highly skilled individual who is essential to the success of the farm. He can fix almost anything and is quite crafty. Pedro lives in Indiantown, has four children, and speaks three languages, one of which is an ancient Mayan dialect. He is from the beautiful municipality of San Miguel Acatán, Guatemala and loves to travel there in the summer. He enjoys marimba parties on his days off and invites friends and family for pig roasts in his backyard.


MIRIAM

Miriam has been a part of the Kai-Kai family since 2009. She is the source of all the farms veggies and a valuable team leader. From seed to harvest she cares for and maintains the crops to ensure fresh and flavorful vegetables for restaurants, CSA, and our farmer’s market. We appreciate all the hard work she does around here. Additionally, Miriam is an exceptional cake baker. You may have already had a slice of her delicious cakes at our farm markets, if not, we surely recommend it! Her favorite vegetables from the farm are beets and rainbow carrots.


ISABELLA

Isabella has been with Kai-Kai since 2013. She lives locally in Indiantown with her husband and four kids. Her roles at Kai-Kai include planting, pruning, and harvesting crops. She also tends to the greenhouse, watering seedlings once they have been taken out of the germination room. Isabella describes working at Kai-Kai as “fun” because she works alongside her family and the work is never repetitive. She loves baking bread and traveling to her beautiful home country, Guatemala to visit friends and family.


DOLORES

Dolores has been with Kai-Kai since 2014. She is married to Pedro, and they have 4 kids together. Dolores has great energy; everyone is always laughing around her. Many would say she is the life of the party! She enjoys work because “no day and no vegetable are the same”. Dolores assists in crop production to fulfill restaurant and CSA orders. Her favorite vacation spots are Guatemala and North Carolina. On her days off she loves to shop, dance, and have fun! A fun fact about Dolores is that she speaks 3 languages and learned how to drive a stick shift truck on the farm.


ROSA

Rosa has been with Kai-Kai since 2015. She lives locally in Indiantown with her husband and children. Rosa is very kind and dependable. She contributes to several departments on the farm, whether it is seeding, pruning, harvesting, or packing orders, she gets it done with a smile. Rosa enjoys traveling to her home country, Guatemala and Tennessee over the summer. A fun fact on Rosa is that she learned how to drive on the farm.


RAMIRO

Ramiro began working at Kai-Kai in 2015. He is vital to the farm, and we appreciate all of his hard work. He keeps our landscapes looking beautiful and flourishing. He also helps with outdoor tasks including creating crop beds, yard maintenance, equipment inspections, pruning and harvesting vegetables. Ramiro enjoys spending time with his wife Maria, who works at the farm as well, and their four children.


DIANA

Diana has been with Kai-Kai for the last 7 years. She is office manager and in charge of a variety of departments such as hospitality events, employee relations, customer service, some accounts receivables, purchasing orders, and delegating assignments to the office staff. Her career path altered when she encountered a life changing experience, assisting doctors on a medical mission trip to Huancavelica, Peru. She is now a full-time student at Indian River State College pursuing a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, in hopes to one day run a transplant department. Diana is a registered backyard beekeeper through the state of Florida and enjoys tending to the bees and selling her honey at our farm market. Her other hobbies are growing bonsais and baking. Diana finds joy in conversing with like-minded people and connecting through healthy eating habits and nutrition.


SEAN

Sean has been a Kai-Kai team member since 2017. Sean is an Indiantown native; his family has lived in Florida for generations. He and his wife welcomed their first child, Melody in December 2022. Sean handles our produce deliveries to our restaurant partner’s. Additionally, he is our grounds keeper and aids to the cleanliness of the property. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in the local punk music scene. He enjoys concerts and his favorite travel destination is Iceland.


JOSE

Jose joined the Kai-Kai team in 2019 and he is essential to the farm’s success. Jose has experience in landscaping and is dedicated to preserving our beautiful grounds by producing only the best work. Additional responsibilities Jose contributes to are planting crops, making crop beds, collecting and pruning vegetables, and setting up and taking down equipment in our hospitality department, among other tasks. He enjoys spending time at family gatherings and working odd side jobs in his free time.


LEE

Lee has been with Kai-Kai since 2019. He is a talented blacksmith and a craftsman. He accomplishes many odd jobs with his ability to fix almost anything. We call lee when we need welding, or our wood fired grill fired up at our farm to table dinners. He loves riding motorcycle and spending quality time with his daughter Rowan. Lee comes from a long line of family, who were the first settlers in Indiantown, the “Wall” family. He enjoys the countryside, traveling the states, and working out of his blacksmithing forge shop. A fun fact about Lee is, he dresses up as Santa Clause for the Indiantown Christmas parade, just as his father did when he was a child.


LALY

Eulalia "Laly" is a office member that excels in providing excellent customer service and is crucial to our hospitality division. She ensures everything is prepared for our events, sets up and breaks down the equipment, and maintains cleanliness and organization in our hospitality storage facilities. Laly is incredibly creative and designs our farm dinner menus as well. She also contacts with engaged couples, helps with our CSA program, and generally offers assistance where it is needed. She just recently began a side gig designing table settings for Quinceaneras, and she's doing a fantastic job! She enjoys spending time with her cousins, attending concerts, and playing with her dog, Ruby, on her days off.


MERINA

Merina recently graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in environmental management in agriculture and natural resources. Her involvement in food systems began when she led a non-profit organization that established edible garden beds at children's community centers to alleviate food insecurity. In August 2022, she started working at Kai-Kai, leading and overseeing initiatives that improve crop yield, soil health, and protect natural resources. She collaborates with government agencies to obtain funding to expand food and agritourism access in our community. Additionally, she photographs some of our farm to table events and runs the blog. In her free time, Merina enjoys surfing, playing beach volleyball, painting, and spending time with friends and family.


MARTHA

Martha recently joined our team in the Fall of 2022. She works in our hospitality department, where she make's sure that our buildings are kept clean and sanitary. She works diligently alongside Diane in our hospitality events and is a terrific team player who is understanding when there are last-minute modifications. On her days off, Martha takes her mother and sister to doctors' appointments, she is a kind and caring individual. Kai-Kai is Martha’s first job, and we delighted to have her on board. A fun fact about Martha is that she loves a ice-cold cup of coffee, especially if it is from Starbucks!


CATARINA

In the fall of 2022, Catarina "Cata" joined our team. She assists us on a part-time basis because she also holds a full-time job. She aids in the setup and takedown of our events and works alongside Martha and Diane in our hospitality department. Cata also makes sure that our facilities are sanitized and organized. We are happy to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic team member. She enjoys spending time with her sons and taking them on road trips on her days off.
